Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster: 4D3R ex Perth (Tue to Fri)

 

The Project Engineer is accountable for the safe and effective delivery of capital and sustaining projects at Solomon. The role supports the Engineering & Reliability function by improving asset performance, reliability and operational efficiency through disciplined project execution and engineering solutions.

 

This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are aligned with Fortescue’s operational priorities, safety standards and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in field leadership activities, risk assessments (JSA, HAZOP, TBRA, CRAW) and implement effective controls.
  • Deliver projects from concept through to commissioning and handover; ensure all projects are designed, planned and executed in compliance with site safety standards and statutory requirements.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules and execution plans.
  • Perform tendering, technical and commercial evaluations and award in compliance with Fortescue’s procurement policies.
  • Manage project performance to achieve targets for safety, cost, schedule and quality.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Planning teams to align project outcomes.
  • Manage contractors, consultants and vendors to deliver safe and effective results.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project engineering within mining, resources or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery frameworks and lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in site-based operational environments.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) desirable.
  • Exposure to reliability engineering and asset management practices desirable.
