The Mining and Operations Planning Manager is a pivotal senior leadership role driving the integration of mine planning, operational execution, and contractor performance to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-efficient magnetite production at Iron Bridge. With oversight of operations planning, mining execution, and the contractor services contract, this role ensures seamless alignment between strategy and delivery—optimising equipment performance, productivity, and asset reliability.

 

Accountable for governance across mine design, scheduling, forecasting, and maintenance integration, the position plays a critical role in achieving production, quality, and cost targets while leading high-performing teams and partners to deliver outstanding operational outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated mine planning to deliver safe, aligned, and cost-effective production outcomes
  • Oversee mine design and governance to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operations
  • Provide strategic leadership to consistently achieve production, quality, and schedule targets
  • Align maintenance and lifecycle strategies to maximise fleet reliability and performance
  • Drive accurate forecasting and disciplined plan execution across production and cost
  • Own contractor performance to ensure safe, efficient delivery aligned to business targets
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation to support strong financial outcomes
  • Manage operational risk and ensure full compliance with safety and statutory requirements
  • Build high-performing teams and strong alignment across internal and external stakeholders
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement to enhance operational performance

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10–15+ years’ experience in open-pit mining, with strong leadership across planning, operations, and maintenance
  • Proven capability integrating mine planning, mobile maintenance, and operational execution to deliver performance outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in life-of-mine and medium-term planning, with strong financial acumen across OPEX and CAPEX
  • Track record leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractor mining and maintenance models
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related) and eligibility for WA First Class Mine Manager’s or Quarry Manager’s Certificate
  • Strong technical and systems knowledge, including mine planning software, fleet maintenance strategies, and WA regulatory requirements
