Fortescue is progressing its decarbonisation strategy, requiring strong integration between mine planning and infrastructure delivery to support operational readiness. 

 

 

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to become the coordination point between mine planning and infrastructure delivery, ensuring Decarbonisation Infrastructure has the right inputs at the right time to support optimal capital and delivery decisions. 

 

 

Working across Operations, Planning, Engineering, Finance, and PMO, you will play a critical role in aligning infrastructure plans with mine planning across all horizons, supporting effective decision-making and delivery outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the integration of Decarbonisation Infrastructure requirements into the 10-Year Plan (10YP) and 2-Year Plan (2YP), ensuring alignment with business objectives and planning cycles
  • Develop, maintain, and govern integrated infrastructure delivery plans aligned with approved mine plans, planning milestones, and delivery schedules
  • Lead and develop a team of planning professionals, providing direction, prioritisation, and performance oversight to support successful program outcomes
  • Act as the primary interface between mine planning and infrastructure teams, ensuring alignment of sequencing, energisation, fleet deployment, and delivery timelines
  • Represent Decarbonisation Infrastructure in cross-functional planning forums, collaborating with Planning, Operations, Fleet, Finance, Engineering, PMO, and other stakeholders
  • Drive proactive change management by assessing planning updates, infrastructure impacts, and evolving assumptions, ensuring timely integration into delivery plans
  • Maintain structured governance frameworks, including RACI ownership, accountability models, and feedback loops to embed infrastructure constraints into planning decisions
  • Identify, assess, and resolve planning conflicts, trade-offs, and dependencies across mine sequencing, fleet deployment, power systems, and infrastructure delivery
  • Lead power system scenario analysis and infrastructure trade-off studies to support informed decision-making and optimise project outcomes
  • Deliver executive-level reporting on integrated planning performance, risks, opportunities, and infrastructure alignment, escalating issues that may impact delivery objectives.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Preference is for the candidate to have experience in either mine planning and/or electrical engineering, power systems, or a related discipline  
  • Strong understanding of mine planning processes, systems, and planning cycles 
  • Knowledge of power systems and load flow analysis (conceptual through to detailed)  
  • Familiarity with heavy mobile equipment (HME) charging infrastructure, including charger types, substation sizing, and cable routing  
  • Demonstrated experience in program change management within complex, multi-stakeholder environments  
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, problem solving skills, communication, and cross-functional facilitation skills  
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively across planning horizons 
  • Previous people and project management experience is desirable.
