Our Opportunity
Location: Perth (Hazelmere) – Fortescue’s Hazelmere facility is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reporting to the Supervisor – Repairs Centre, this role is responsible for safely and efficiently rebuilding, overhauling, inspecting, and repairing heavy mobile equipment components to OEM specifications. Working within Fortescue's Repairs Centre, you will play a critical role in ensuring components are returned to service with the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance to support operations across the business.
As part of a skilled and collaborative team, you will contribute to component rebuild programs, quality assurance processes, fault identification, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, workmanship, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, rebuild, and assembly of heavy mobile equipment components in accordance with OEM specifications and Fortescue standards
- Conduct detailed inspections, measurements, and assessments to determine component condition, serviceability, and repair requirements
- Rebuild and overhaul critical components including final drives, pump drives, brake packs, wheel hubs, and other heavy mobile equipment assemblies
- Identify faults, wear patterns, and potential failure mechanisms, providing feedback to supervisors and reliability teams to support continuous improvement
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of rebuild procedures, quality assurance processes, and workshop standards
- Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and job records accurately and within required timeframes
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard of workmanship
- Comply with all safety procedures, permits, risk assessments, and work instructions
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, cost performance, and workshop efficiency
- Support the training, mentoring, and development of apprentices and less experienced team members when required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment at all times
Qualifications and Experience
- Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience rebuilding heavy mobile equipment components within mining, resources, or heavy industry environments
- Experience working within a component rebuild or overhaul workshop environment
- Strong understanding of OEM rebuild standards, specifications, tolerances, and quality assurance processes
- Sound knowledge of heavy mobile equipment mechanical systems and component operation
- Proven ability to strip, inspect, measure, rebuild, and test mechanical components to specification
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and torque equipment
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering documentation, and OEM service manuals
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and documentation
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
