Are you passionate about preserving heritage and contributing to sustainable development? Fortescue, amidst a phase of exponential growth and green energy transition, is expanding its Heritage team and seeking dedicated Senior Heritage Advisors to join us on this exciting journey.

 

As a Senior Heritage Advisor at Fortescue, you will play a pivotal role in our heritage team, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate heritage approvals and land access across a portfolio of projects.

 

Reporting to the Heritage Principal, you will provide strategic guidance to ensure timely approvals for exploration, operational, and expansion projects, including those focused on ferrous and decarbonization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft internal Heritage Approvals Advice and Planning Assumptions.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive approvals schedule to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Draft and submit applications under the revised Aboriginal Heritage Act (1972) and Regulations, including management plans where required.
  • Prepare Heritage Approval Consultation Materials for Native Title Party Meetings
  • Prepare Social Surroundings Workshop Materials in collaboration with other internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in Internal Heritage Incident Investigations and Compliance Reporting
  • Provide assistance to Heritage Advisors and Officers on complex approvals matters to maintain consistency.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including Traditional Owners, Legal representatives, and Heritage Consultants, as well as internal teams such as Field and Office Heritage personnel, project managers, and mining engineers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Substantial experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Tertiary qualification in archaeology, anthropology, environmental science, sociology, law, or a related discipline is desirable, but not essential 
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a track record of delivering results within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and spatial management software (e.g., ArcGIS or similar), with a quick ability to adapt to new software.
  • Experience in developing cultural heritage management plans is highly regarded.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
