Our Opportunity
Work Location: Across all Fortescue Pilbara Operations
Roster: 8D/6R ex. Perth
We have multiple opportunities available across our new operations at Blacksmith, Cloudbreak and Solomon. We are seeking experienced and motivated candidates to lead and coordinate newly established teams of Field Technicians, playing a key role in supporting safe, reliable, and efficient site operations.
Reporting to the Superintendent, this role is responsible for overseeing field operations supporting the RC drilling program.
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader. With a focus on safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you will work closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure operational targets are achieved while contributing to the ongoing success of a world-class mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and foster a safe and positive culture within the Resource Definition team through effective frontline leadership and mentoring
- Identification and rectification of hazards in the workplace
- Lead a team of Field Technicians and assist in the field with day-to-day tasks
- Provide necessary support to the Senior Geologist to ensure all drilling programs are executed safely and in a timely manner
- Comply with FMG site specific HSES and OH&S policies, work instructions, procedures, and reporting protocols. Review and update these documents on a regular basis
- Fulfil the Appointed Supervisor responsibilities
- Carry out daily/weekly/monthly workplace inspections and audits and ensure work area compliance
- Assisting with dispatch of drill samples to the offsite lab and any issues with the lab are rectified in a timely manner
- Managing consumables stock levels, including obtaining supply quotes
- Managing vehicle assets and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications and Experience
- Representation of Fortescue`s core values
- Experience in drilling operations in remote locations
- 4WD Certificate
- Forklift Certificate
- HR license desirable
- Intermediate to Advanced computer skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders
- Effective project management, planning and time management skills
- Strong desire and drive for continuous improvement
- Class C manual WA driver’s license.
