Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples

 

Roster: 4:3 FIFO

 

Reporting to the General Manager, Fortescue is seeking an experienced Manager Engineering to join the Solomon Operations team.

 

In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site. You will oversee engineering activities across the operation, ensuring technical standards are maintained, risks are managed, and improvement opportunities are identified and delivered.

 

As Fortescue continues its transition toward Real Zero, this role will support the integration of new technologies and operational improvements that enhance energy efficiency, equipment performance, and long-term asset reliability.

 

The role requires strong leadership, sound technical judgement, and the ability to work closely with operational and maintenance teams to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, setting clear expectations and supporting team performance
  • Provide visible safety leadership and ensure engineering activities are completed safely and in line with site standards
  • Oversee engineering systems and standards to support reliable and efficient plant performance
  • Drive asset reliability through risk management, failure analysis, and practical problem solving
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and projects teams to address site priorities and improve performance
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company requirements
  • Deliver engineering improvements that enhance reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Manage consultants and contractors and provide technical guidance on operational and strategic priorities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience leading engineering teams in mining, processing, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment
  • Proven ability to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering outcomes
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing a range of stakeholders
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Experience managing consultants and contractors
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to align team objectives with operational and business priorities
  • Experience supporting asset improvement, electrification, or decarbonisation initiatives will be highly regarded
