Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth, Western Australia. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday.
An exciting opportunity to join Fortescue’s Corporate Finance team as Principal, Corporate Finance.
In this role, you will be part of a dynamic, high-performance team responsible for the capital management and funding of the Group.
The role will contribute to optimising Fortescue’s balance sheet management through financial analysis, transaction structuring and execution, supporting Fortescue’s debt capital markets activity, credit rating engagement, compliance obligations and broader corporate finance strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead detailed financial analysis, including cash flow model interrogation, scenario analysis, sensitivity assessment and evaluation of financing alternatives.
- Support the structuring and execution of corporate finance transactions, including debt capital markets, syndicated loans, project finance and other funding initiatives.
- Manage defined transaction workstreams, including the preparation of commercial documentation, offering memoranda, investor materials and transaction-related analysis.
- Lead debt compliance processes in collaboration with the broader business, including Green Bond Allocation and Impact reporting.
- Develop rigorous analysis and recommendations to support financing strategy, capital management decisions and transaction structuring.
- Prepare quarterly credit rating presentations and support ongoing engagement with rating agencies and debt investors.
- Liaise with external parties, including rating agencies, legal advisors, relationship banks, arrangers, underwriters and other funding partners.
- Prepare management briefing papers, committee papers and Board reports on financing matters.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Legal, Sustainability, Operations, Projects and Investor Relations.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, including reviewing analysis, models and presentation materials.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in corporate finance, treasury, investment banking, project finance, infrastructure finance, commercial finance or a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, financial modelling and supporting or executing corporate finance transactions.
- Sound understanding of domestic and international debt capital markets, with exposure to infrastructure or capital-intensive project funding preferred.
- Experience preparing debt transaction marketing materials, investor presentations, rating agency materials or management briefing papers.
- Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, commerce or equivalent.
- Motivated, commercially minded and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- strong analytical capability, sound judgement and high attention to detail.
- Ability to independently develop, review and interrogate financial models.
- Comfortable preparing clear recommendations from complex financial, commercial and transaction analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and can prepare high-quality reports, presentations and analysis in PowerPoint.
