Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:   Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge mine is located on the traditional lands of Nyamal people.

 

Roster: 8D/6R ex Perth

 

At Fortescue we are in the process of transforming our energy assets to achieve our climate change targets of zero emissions by 2030. Reporting to the Energy Operations Northern Region Supervisor you will join a technically disciplined team and demonstrate an ability to deliver against a wider variety of Refrigeration maintenance on our battery storage units which are essential to our teams success.

 

The Energy Operations portfolio includes:

  • A 220kV transmission network extending from Eliwana to Port Hedland
  • 11kV, 22kV and 33kV distribution networks across the Iron Bridge, Solomon, Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mine sites
  • Emergency diesel power stations supporting site and villages
  • Fortescue's first 117MW solar farm and battery energy storage systems

 

By 2028, the portfolio will expand to include:

  • 1.2GW of solar generation
  • 600MW of wind generation
  • 5GWh of battery energy storage
  • A total of 620km of transmission 220kV overhead network

 

This growth will significantly increase the scale of Energy Operations' renewable energy and transmission infrastructure, supporting Fortescue's decarbonisation and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Carry out planned and routine maintenance on a broad range of refrigeration equipment within Energy Operations battery limits.
  • Complete installation work, diagnostics and fault finding across refrigeration equipment within Energy Operations battery limits.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Use SAP to record, assign and complete maintenance tasks to the required standard and specification.
  • Ensure refrigerants are handled and stored safely.
  • Lead and manage ARCtick compliance record keeping.
  • Welding repairs on refrigeration pipework.
  • Maintain compliance with the Refrigerant Gas Management Plan.
  • Ensure all work complies with the Refrigerant Handling Code of Practice 2025, Part 1 and Part 2.
  • Maintain statutory compliance, including refrigerant gas logbook requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
  • Full Western Australian Refrigerant Handling Licence (Open).
  • Western Australian Restricted Electrical Licence or Western Australian Electrical Licence (dual trade).
  • Low Voltage Rescue and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
  • Current High Risk Work Licence, including WP, LF and DG.
  • Western Australian Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Working at heights training.
  • Experience with glycol cooling systems.
  • Experience with large-scale industrial cooling plants.
  • Marine, industrial or commercial refrigeration experience.
  • Experience using the ARC Portal, desirable.
  • Heavy Rigid Driver’s Licence, desirable.
  • Experience with Trane chiller systems, desirable.
