We're looking for multiple Resource Definition Geologists to join the newly established Blacksmith Resource Definition Team.

Located west of Fortescue's Solomon operations, the Blacksmith Project is one of Fortescue's exciting new mining developments, offering a unique opportunity to contribute during the project's early stages and help shape its future as it grows into a large-scale operation.

As a Resource Definition Geologist, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality geological data to support resource definition activities. Working closely with drilling contractors and technical teams, you'll help ensure safe, efficient and accurate drilling programs while contributing to the success of a major new project.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrating visible safety leadership and promoting a positive safety culture in the field.
• Supporting safe drilling operations and monitoring compliance with safety standards.
• Supervising Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling activities.
• Coordinating day-to-day drilling programs to ensure safe and efficient execution.
• Logging RC chips to a high standard and maintaining accurate geological records.
• Ensuring sample quality, integrity and adherence to best-practice sampling procedures.
• Working collaboratively with geologists, drilling contractors and project stakeholders.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and sharing ideas to enhance team performance.
• Complying with Fortescue's Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• A genuine commitment to safety and alignment with Fortescue's Values.
• A tertiary qualification in Geoscience, Geology or a related discipline.
• Experience supervising or coordinating RC drilling programs.
• Experience logging iron ore and a sound understanding of iron ore mineralogy.
• Knowledge of the Brockman Iron Formation (highly regarded but not essential).
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• A current C Class Manual Driver's Licence.
