Our Opportunity

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for a 6-month secondment at Iron Bridge, providing technical leadership and specialist electrical engineering support across the Ore Processing Facility (OPF) and Concentrate Handling Facility (CHF).
Reporting to the Engineering & Reliability Superintendent, this role will lead and support a small team of Electrical Engineers, while working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering & Reliability and Energy Operations to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Iron Bridge electrical assets.
The position provides an opportunity to combine hands-on electrical engineering, technical leadership and team development in a complex fixed-plant operating environment, with a strong focus on reliability, asset performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support to a team of Electrical Engineers, setting priorities, reviewing engineering work and supporting capability development.
- Provide specialist electrical engineering support across the Iron Bridge OPF and CHF to maintain safe, reliable and efficient plant operation.
- Support Operations and Maintenance teams with fault finding, troubleshooting and resolution of electrical breakdowns and recurring equipment issues across HV/LV systems, switchgear, motors, VSDs, protection, controls and instrumentation.
- Lead and facilitate root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives, using plant performance, reliability data and asset-management KPIs to identify risks and prevent repeat failures.
- Develop and implement electrical maintenance and reliability improvements, including maintenance strategies, technical documentation and change-management requirements.
- Scope and support small to medium electrical improvement and sustaining-capital projects, including engineering input through construction, commissioning and performance verification.
- Ensure electrical engineering activities and modifications comply with Fortescue governance, change-management processes, applicable standards and site safety requirements, while working collaboratively across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Energy Operations, OEMs and contractors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–10 years’ electrical engineering experience, ideally in mining, mineral processing, fixed plant or heavy industry.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, mentoring or supervision to engineers or technical personnel.
- Strong knowledge of HV/LV power systems, switchgear, motors, VSDs, protection systems, PLCs, controls and instrumentation.
- Proven capability in fault finding, root cause analysis, reliability improvement and maintenance strategy optimisation.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, relevant legislation, standards and engineering governance.
- Experience using SAP or a similar CMMS.
