Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine, located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples
Roster: 8D6R – FIFO ex Perth
We are seeking an experienced Specialist Scheduler – Shutdowns to join the Shutdown & Planning team at Solomon.
Reporting to the Superintendent Shutdown & Planning, this role is pivotal in the development, integration and optimisation of shutdown schedules across Solomon’s wet and dry processing facilities. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, planning, execution and contractor teams to develop robust and achievable schedules that support the safe and efficient delivery of shutdown and major maintenance events.
The successful candidate will bring strong fixed plant maintenance knowledge, advanced scheduling capability and the ability to coordinate multiple work fronts, resources and dependencies within a complex operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and optimise integrated shutdown schedules (17W Frequency) using Microsoft Project across wet and dry processing facilities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary work scopes, ensuring activities are correctly sequenced, resourced and execution-ready.
- Facilitate schedule reviews with key stakeholders to validate scope, durations, dependencies and priorities.
- Identify and manage critical path activities, resource conflicts, schedule constraints and execution risks.
- Monitor shutdown progress against the approved schedule, providing clear reporting, forecasts and recovery recommendations.
- Maintain schedule integrity throughout planning and execution, including scope changes, milestones, logic and baselines.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in shutdown scheduling and execution.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated shutdown scheduling or planning experience within mining, fixed plant processing or heavy industry.
- Strong capability in developing and managing complex, resource-loaded schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Sound understanding of fixed plant maintenance, shutdown execution and work management processes.
- Working knowledge of SAP Maintenance Management and strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Trade, Engineering or relevant maintenance/planning qualification or experience is highly regarded.
