Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Cloudbreak – Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

 

Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Broome, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra.

 

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Leading Hand – Process Operator to join the Cloudbreak Ore Processing Facility (OPF) Operations team.

 

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Leading Hand will support the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the plant, providing frontline leadership to Process Operators and coordinating crew priorities and activities.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate daily process operations, priorities and work allocation across the crew.
  • Provide frontline leadership and support to Process Operators.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in line with procedures and operating standards.
  • Identify hazards, manage operational risks and maintain high housekeeping and plant hygiene standards.
  • Liaise with Operations, Maintenance and support teams during changing plant conditions and breakdowns.
  • Mentor and coach operators and support the development of new team members.
  • Support safe plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement and a positive, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Previous experience in mineral processing or fixed plant operations.
  • Demonstrated Leading Hand or frontline leadership experience in a high-risk operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of safe plant operation and operational risk management.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and support a crew of operators.
  • Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Maintenance and other operational teams.
  • Strong operational awareness with the ability to respond to changing plant conditions.
  • Commitment to Fortescue’s Values and maintaining a safe, inclusive workplace.
  • Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor required.
