Work Location: Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: FIFO - 4/3 OR 7/7

We are seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic and experienced leaders wishing to explore Leadership Coach positions across our operational mine sites.

The primary objective of the Leadership Coach role is to provide expert coaching and mentoring to frontline Supervisors, Superintendents and emerging leaders, promoting a high-performance culture that enhances operational efficiency, employee engagement, and safety outcomes that will support the delivery of Fortescue’s goals.  

This role requires strong coaching skills, an ability to engage diverse teams, and a deep understanding of leadership development within a mining or heavy industry environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operational leaders to identify leadership capability gaps.
• Design customised coaching plans which strengthen areas such as communication, team management and conflict resolution.
• Reinforce Fortescue’s strategic direction and our Light on the Hill
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of coaching interventions
• Deliver one-on-one and group coaching sessions to Supervisors, Coordinators and/or Superintendents.
• Support Fortescue Frontline, a key component of Fortescue’s Leadership Academy.
• Provide relevant reporting and feedback to key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive operational leadership experience within the mining sector, including in FIFO environments.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring frontline leaders in operational environments.
• Strong understanding of leadership principles, team dynamics, and performance management.
• Proven ability to facilitate coaching conversations and workshops effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable but not essential:

• Familiarity with behavioural assessments and leadership profiling tools.
• Knowledge of change management or organisational development principles.
• Understanding of safety leadership and risk management frameworks.
• Formal coaching qualification or certification (e.g., ICF accreditation) is highly regarded.
