Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 7D7N14R - FIFO ex Perth or Busselton
Reporting to the Superintendent Mobile Maintenance Ancillary, the Supervisor Ancillary is responsible for leading the safe, compliant and efficient execution of Ancillary HME maintenance at Solomon.
The role provides visible leadership, supports breakdown & shutdown maintenance delivery, drives work management discipline, builds team capability and ensures maintenance activities are completed in line with Fortescue standards, site requirements and OEM recommendations.
The Supervisor will lead Fortescue, contractor maintenance personnel to deliver safe work, quality maintenance outcomes and a positive team culture across Ancillary HME fleets.
The role oversees maintenance activities across the Ancillary fleet including 130T, 280T and 450 Panther Floats; 993K, 994H, 994K and WA1200-6 Loaders; 16M, 18M and 24M Graders; D10T and PR776 Dozers; 854K Wheeled Dozers; and other ancillary equipment as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a safe, respectful, inclusive and accountable team culture, providing visible field leadership through pre-starts, toolbox meetings, safety interactions and coaching.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise breakdown, shutdown and planned maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely and to Fortescue, legislative and OEM standards.
- Drive strong work management discipline across SAP work orders, defect management, preventative maintenance compliance and effective shift handovers.
- Lead, coach and develop Fortescue and contractor personnel through regular performance conversations, field leadership, VOCs, qualifications and task competency development.
- Monitor maintenance performance, repeat defects, reliability issues and compliance, escalating risks and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Partner with Planning, Operations, Reliability, Safety and support teams to deliver aligned maintenance outcomes, including hazard management, incident investigations and corrective actions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter or Auto Electrician with Schedule 26 qualification.
- Proven mobile maintenance supervisory experience, including leading trade and contractor teams within high-risk mining environments.
- Strong safety leadership with sound knowledge of WHS obligations, critical controls, Fortescue standards, site procedures and relevant WA mining legislation.
- Demonstrated work management capability across SAP, planned maintenance, defect management and maintenance execution.
- Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop people, coordinate contractors and engage effectively with key stakeholders.
- Proficiency in SAP, Excel, Word, SuccessFactors and Anaplan, with experience in incident investigation, reliability improvement, defect elimination or continuous improvement initiatives.
