Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
Fortescue is seeking an experienced aviation leader to oversee the safe, compliant and efficient operation of its owned and operated aerodromes.
As Manager Aerodromes, you’ll set the strategic direction and lead the operational, commercial and people functions of the aerodrome portfolio. You’ll hold the CASA accountable manager position for certified aerodromes, ensuring operations meet CASA MOS 139, Part 173 and other relevant regulatory requirements.
You’ll work closely with airlines, regulators, contractors and Fortescue teams to maintain high standards of safety and service, support business growth, and integrate new aerodrome operations into Fortescue’s growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction and long-term plans for Fortescue’s aerodromes, aligning operational, financial and service objectives with business priorities.
- Oversee daily airside and landside operations, facilities, infrastructure and asset performance.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and lead effective safety management, risk, emergency response and business continuity processes.
- Build systems and processes that improve operational efficiency, service quality and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, airline agreements and support service contracts, working with Category Management where required.
- Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining safety and service standards, and meet corporate governance and audit requirements.
- Lead, develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team, supporting workforce planning, training, succession and a positive, inclusive, safety-first culture.
- Build strong relationships with airlines, regulatory bodies, contractors, industry partners and internal stakeholders, representing Fortescue at relevant forums.
- Support infrastructure development and the integration of new aerodrome operations into Fortescue’s growth plans.
- Progress sustainability initiatives that support Fortescue’s Real Zero and environmental objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven leadership experience in airport, aviation or mass transport operations.
- Strong understanding of CASA MOS 139 and relevant aviation legislation.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex operational environments.
- Strong financial and commercial management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Strategic thinking, sound analytical skills and the ability to solve complex operational challenges.
- A commitment to workplace safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
- A tertiary qualification in business management, aviation or a related discipline would be desirable.
- Experience managing regional or major airport operations, and familiarity with infrastructure development or capital works, would also be an advantage.
