Roster: 7D7N14R FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Fitzroy Crossing, Broome, Kununurra, Karratha & Port Hedland 

 

Fortescue is seeking experienced Light Vehicle Mechanics to join our high-performing team at our Christmas Creek operations. This site-based role operates on a 7 Days, 7 Nights, 14 Days Off roster, offering a great work-life balance.

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of light vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. We’re looking for safety-focused, trade-qualified professionals with strong diagnostic skills and previous experience in a mining or heavy industry environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime and maximise equipment reliability and productivity

  • Inspect, diagnose, overhaul and repair light vehicles including engines, gearboxes, clutches and braking systems

  • Conduct routine servicing, fault finding and breakdown repairs in a timely and effective manner

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine job requirements and maintenance solutions

  • Use materials, labour, tools and equipment efficiently, ensuring all tools and work areas are maintained to a high standard

  • Participate in effective shift handovers and carry out other reasonable duties within skill and competency as required

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Trade qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic (essential)

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing LVs  in a mining environment

  • Strong fault-finding skills with high attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Ability to work autonomously and step into leadership responsibilities when required

  • Auto electrical, air-conditioning, tyre fitting and wheel alignment experience (desirable)

  • HR driver’s licence and additional high-risk licences or tickets (desirable)
