We have an exciting opportunity to join the Fortescue Morocco Exploration team as Project Geologist.

 

Fortescue is undertaking a large-scale regional exploration program across Morocco focused on copper, gold, iron ore and other critical minerals.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced exploration professionals on frontier exploration projects with genuine district-scale discovery potential.

 

You will be accountable for supporting project generation, regional geological assessments and field exploration programs while contributing to the evaluation and advancement of new mineral discoveries.

 

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, you will work closely with multidisciplinary technical teams to generate exploration targets and progress projects from early-stage assessment through to drill testing.

Key Responsibilities

 

•    Compiling, validating and interpreting geological datasets. 
•    Undertaking regional geological reviews and project generation studies. 
•    Generating and prioritising exploration targets using geological, geochemical and geophysical datasets. 
•    Completing geological mapping, sampling and field investigations. 
•    Supervising drilling contractors and undertaking geological logging. 
•    Supporting the planning and execution of exploration programs. 
•    Preparing technical reports, presentations and exploration recommendations. 
•    Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary technical teams to solve geological challenges. 
•    Promoting safe and environmentally responsible exploration practices. 

Qualifications and Experience

 

•    Degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline. 
•    Approximately 3+ years' exploration experience. 
•    Experience in greenfields mineral exploration will be highly regarded. 
•    Strong geological mapping, logging and data interpretation skills. 
•    Ability to integrate geological, geochemical and geophysical datasets to support exploration decisions. 
•    Strong technical writing, communication and teamwork skills. 
•    Experience working in international exploration environments will be highly regarded. 
•    Experience using ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ioGas and geological database software will be advantageous. 
•    Fluent French is required for this role. 
•    English language proficiency will be highly regarded. 
•    Current valid driver's licence.
