Welcome to Fortescue VTEC

 

At Fortescue’s Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC), our vision is simple to change lives through opportunities.

 

Our VTEC locations:

  • Port Hedland
  • Karratha
  • Perth                            

 

Fortescue VTEC engagement is targeted at local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are interested in pursuing a career in mining. Fortescue is inviting expressions of interest individuals residing in our intake regions for new fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) training and employment opportunities.

Complete your Registration - Submit your expression of Interest by clicking ‘Apply’ on this page and it will direct you to create a profile a answer a few questions. via this Link/Portal, if required you already have a Fortescue profile you will just be asked to login with your previous credentials.

  1. Eligibility – Fortescue will check your Eligibility against the following:
  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Permanent resident of Port Hedland, Karratha or Perth your local intake area
  • Aged 18 years or older
  • Hold a current valid Driver’s Licence

 

  1. VTEC Information Session - If you are eligible The VTEC Team will invite you to an information session, these sessions are generally face-to-face in a Fortescue office.  You’ll learn about Fortescue’s operations, engagement, VTEC pathway and positions that could be on offer. During the session you will have the opportunity to decided whether you wish to formally apply for the VTEC program. Applications can be facilitated on the day

What if I don’t have a current drivers licence but met all other criteria?

Our program is dedicated to supporting local First Nations People by providing tailored assistance to overcome barriers to employment, including obtaining and maintaining a driver’s licence. Please continue to submit your registration. Our team will discuss this with you during your application process. 

 

What happens if my mobile number changes?

You can keep your details updated in your Fortescue profile. You may return to your profile at any time to change any of your contact details including email and address. It is very important to make sure re your details are correct so you don’t miss our contact.

 

When are the information sessions run?

We aim to run information sessions at least once a month. So, you would expect to hear from us within that time around a further date. We will send you an email with an invite to an information session, that you will need to log in and accept.

 

What if I'm 17 but turning 18 soon or just about to finish school. Can I still apply?
Yes, we encourage you to apply and begin the process now. However, you must be at least 18 before you can be considered for opportunities with VTEC. If you start the process earlier, we’ll continue to work with you until you reach eligibility.
