An opportunity has arisen for a Motorsport Design Engineer to join the Motorsport & Advanced Engineering department.
About the role
The motorsport and advanced engineering team have projects that require a design engineer with a strong skillset of mechanical design, ideally in the context of electrification. The projects are high performance in nature, with a focus on lightweight and powerful systems across motorsport, defence and other applications.
What you will do
As a member of the motorsport engineering team your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Perform engineering calculations for components and systems
- Component and assembly design using 3D CAD software
- Completion and release of engineering drawings
- Follow company guidelines related to CAD assembly structures and BoM creation
- Design & development of rig and test equipment
- Undertake data analysis to support design development, problem solve and fault resolution
- Data transfer to customers and suppliers
- Document build specifications & instructions
- Design for performance, efficiency and total cost optimisation
- Occasional customer liaison and event support
- Writing build instructions and plan Safe Systems of Work
- Following Design Verification Plans
- Continuously improve engineering and business systems and processes
- Engage with supply chain to improve manufacturability and quality
About you
- This role will suit from a high performing graduate engineer up to around 5 years relevant experience.
- Should have some mechanical design experience in high performance applications such as motorsport, defence, aerospace.
- Exposure to HV systems, energy storage and low volume applications is highly desirable.
- Must be a proficient CAD (Siemens NX preferred) and PLM (Siemens Teamcenter preferred) user.
- Must be able to achieve and maintain Base Line Security Clearance (BPSS) for this role.
- Ability to travel outside the UK
