An opportunity has arisen for a Infrastructure Operations Manager to join the IT department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About the role

The UK Infrastructure & Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day planning, delivery and operational management of IT services supporting the Global Fortescue business with a key focus on Fortescue Energy & Growth Assets. The role ensures that local technology services are stable, secure, and fit-for-purpose, while remaining fully aligned with the standards, architectures and operating model defined by the Fortescue Group.

Operating within a regional hub model, the UK Infrastructure & Operations Manager does not own group-wide architecture or strategy, but is accountable for local execution, service performance and continuous improvement, acting as the primary UK interface into Group Infrastructure & Operations.

The role covers infrastructure, end-user services, service desk, site support and local application support, working closely with Group teams and third-party partners to enable UK business objectives.

What you will do

Technology Operations & Service Delivery

  • Own the operational delivery of UK IT services, including network, server, data communications, telecommunications, service desk, site support and local engineering application support.
  • Ensure UK IT services operate reliably and in line with Group-defined architectures, standards and security requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for UK technology operational issues, incidents and service risks.
  • Manage local disaster recovery readiness and operational resilience in accordance with Group DR frameworks.

Planning, Alignment & Governance

  • Develop and maintain a UK IT operations roadmap aligned to Group technology strategy and service standards.
  • Translate Group initiatives and platform changes into UK-specific execution plans, managing local impacts and dependencies.
  • Establish and manage UK service levels in alignment with Fortescue Group SLAs and operational expectations.
  • Participate in Group technology planning forums, providing UK input and operational insight.

Delivery & Change Support

  • Lead UK execution of approved technology changes, upgrades and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Support feasibility assessments and local readiness for Group-led technology deployments.
  • Coordinate local resources, third parties and vendors to deliver change safely and effectively.
  • Ensure appropriate change, release and incident processes are followed in line with Group ITSM practices.

Vendor & Resource Management

  • Manage UK-based technology vendors and service providers, ensuring performance aligns with contractual and operational expectations.
  • Support procurement, RFPs and contract discussions where UK-specific services are required, in coordination with Group teams.
  • Ensure efficient use of local IT resources, assets and budgets.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and develop the UK technology operations team, including service delivery, infrastructure and support roles.
  • Build strong working relationships with UK business leaders, acting as a trusted operational technology partner.
  • Maintain regular communication with UK stakeholders and Group Technology Operations on service performance, risks and priorities.

About you

  • Proven experience managing IT operations in a regional or subsidiary environment, aligned to a centralised parent organisation.
  • Strong background in infrastructure operations, service delivery and support (network, server, end-user services).
  • Experience operating within group-defined architectures and standards, without owning enterprise design authority.
  • Ability to balance local business needs with group governance and controls.
  • Experience managing third-party providers and hybrid delivery models.
  • Strong operational leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix environment with dotted-line accountability.

What is in it for you?
