An opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT PLM Applications Specialist to join the IT department in our Kidlington HQ.

About the role

The Senior IT PLM Applications Specialist is the lead technical authority for Fortescue’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and engineering application landscape, including Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Polarion, Rapid Author, and TCRA.

This role provides enterprise-level technical leadership, owning the reliability, evolution, and technical direction of PLM applications that underpin engineering, asset lifecycle, and compliance outcomes across Fortescue. The role operates as the highest escalation point for PLM-related incidents and plays a key role in shaping platform roadmaps, standards, and future capability.

What you will do

Technical Leadership & Platform Ownership

  • Act as the principal technical authority for Fortescue’s PLM and engineering applications landscape.
  • Define and maintain technical standards, support models, and best practices for PLM platforms.
  • Provide input into application roadmaps, lifecycle planning, and upgrade strategies.
  • Ensure PLM platforms align with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance requirements.

 

Advanced Incident & Problem Management

  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex, high-impact PLM incidents.
  • Lead major incident response, root-cause investigations, and long-term remediation initiatives.
  • Proactively identify systemic risks and drive actions to improve platform resilience and availability.

 

Platform Improvement & Delivery

  • Lead technical design and delivery for PLM upgrades, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Oversee complex changes, migrations, and modernisation initiatives across NX, Teamcenter, Polarion, Rapid Author, and TCRA.
  • Drive continuous improvement of performance, scalability, and user experience across the PLM environment.

 

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Digital, IT Infrastructure, and business leaders to shape PLM capability.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with software vendors and strategic partners.
  • Influence vendor roadmaps and support outcomes to meet Fortescue’s operational needs.

 

Capability Development

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and direction to PLM application specialists and support teams.
  • Establish knowledge standards, documentation frameworks, and operational maturity across PLM support.
  • Uplift organisational capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical governance.

About you

Essential

  • Extensive experience in senior or principal-level support of enterprise PLM platforms.
  • Deep expertise in Siemens Teamcenter architecture, administration, and integration.
  • Strong experience supporting NX CAD in large-scale engineering environments.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Polarion ALM, Rapid Author / Composer, and TCRA.
  • Proven ability to lead complex incident resolution and large-scale technical initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architectures, integrations, and data flows.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills.

 

Desirable

  • Experience defining PLM strategy or roadmaps within a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience integrating PLM with ERP, MES, asset management, or digital engineering platforms.
  • Scripting, automation, or DevOps experience supporting engineering applications.
  • Vendor certifications (Siemens PLM, ITIL, or equivalent).
  • Security Clearance

 

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • ITIL Foundation or similar service management qualifications beneficial.
