EOI: Principal Communications Advisor

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Marylebone, London (with regular travel to Oxford and other locations as required)

Roster: Monday-Friday + Rostered On-Call Weekends

What We’re Looking For:
•    A natural leader who takes control and follows through
•    A true all-rounder across all communications disciplines
•    Comfortable getting your hands dirty to get the job done
•    Driven, curious and opportunity-focused
•    Energised by working in a dynamic, evolving environment

Job Summary:
This is not a job for someone who wants to be told what to say – we are looking for a communications leader who can take ownership, set direction and deliver outcomes.

Joining our global Communications team in London and Oxford, this role will play a critical part in shaping, leading and executing communications strategies across internal, external, media, government and events. You will be responsible for driving proactive, high-impact communications that support Fortescue’s global green metals, energy and technology ambitions.

You will operate as a true all-rounder, who is equally comfortable developing strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves to execute it. From international media engagement to internal communications, stakeholder management and global events, you will lead from the front and ensure delivery at every stage.

This role requires a self-starter with strong commercial instinct — someone who actively seeks out opportunities, anticipates risks, and drives initiatives forward without waiting for direction. You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and bring energy, curiosity and accountability to everything you do.

Flexibility is essential. While London-based, the role requires regular travel to Oxford and other locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and Deliver Communications Strategy:
Take full ownership of developing and executing integrated internal and external communications strategies that align with business objectives. Drive these strategies from concept through to delivery, ensuring measurable impact.

Proactive Media Leadership:
Build, lead and leverage strong media relationships across international markets. Identify and create media opportunities, shape narratives and confidently manage high-profile media engagement.

Hands-On Content Creation:
Develop high-quality, compelling content across multiple channels — including press releases, executive messaging, social media, speeches and digital platforms. Maintain a strong, consistent voice aligned with brand and strategy.

End-to-End Event Execution:
Lead the planning and delivery of major events, conferences and announcements. Be equally comfortable designing the concept and running execution on the ground.

Stakeholder and Government Engagement:
Actively engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders including internal teams, senior leaders, investors, government and community groups. Build trusted relationships and ensure alignment across all communications.

Crisis and Issues Management:
Take control in high-pressure situations by developing and executing crisis communications strategies. Provide clear, confident guidance and protect organisational reputation.

Insight-Driven Approach:
Monitor media, trends and performance. Translate insights into actionable recommendations and continuously refine communications activity for greater impact.

Qualifications and Experience

•    Proven experience in a senior communications role with demonstrated ability to lead strategy and deliver outcomes, not just advise.
•    A versatile communications professional with experience across media, internal communications, digital, stakeholder engagement and events.
•    Strong track record of being a self-starter — proactive, resourceful and driven to identify and create opportunities.
•    Comfortable operating as a hands-on operator who can switch between strategic thinking and execution seamlessly.
•    Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•    Experience working across multiple locations and teams; flexibility to travel regularly.
•    Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field preferred.
•    Experience or interest in green energy, sustainability or technology sectors is advantageous.
