Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday - Friday | Flexible working arrangements available 

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a Resource Estimation Modelling Geologist to join our Perth-based team.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality resource models that support mine planning across all horizons and enable effective decision-making for mine geology teams. 

 

You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across resource definition, mine planning, and operations to ensure models are accurate, timely, and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Ensure data integrity through robust validation and quality control processes
  • Develop geological interpretations suitable for resource modelling
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality resource models on time
  • Collaborate with mine geology, resource definition, and mine planning teams
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement aligned with Fortescue’s values

Qualifications and Experience

  • 4–7 years’ industry experience, ideally in geological modelling, resource estimation, or mine geology
  • Experience with iron ore deposits (hematite preferred; magnetite or other bulk commodities advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of geological modelling and estimation software (Vulcan preferred)
  • A degree in Geology or a related discipline
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams
  • High attention to detail and data quality
  • A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Alignment with Fortescue’s Values and Code of Conduct
