Materials Systems Specialist

Work Location: Fortescue Centre, Perth located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people
Roster: Monday to Friday (occasional site travel required)
*Flexible working arrangement – up to 2 days working from home per week.
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Materials Systems Specialist to join our Asset & Material Management Systems team. This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in SAP Materials Management and related systems, and a proven track record in system implementation, supply chain, and asset technology solutions.
Reporting to the Materials Systems Lead, you will be focusing on optimising our materials systems, supporting our end users, streamline processes, and contribute to implementing new technology across our Materials Management (including: inventory, cataloguing, warehousing, logistics). The successful candidate will be passionate about leveraging technology to deliver practical solutions, engaging stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Scoping and implementing technical system enhancements to support Fortescue’s growing industry footprint, for Materials Management
- Diagnosing and problem-solving detailed SAP and business process specific problems to generate continuous improvement works
- Collaboration with other subject matter experts across the business to maintain a streamlined system landscape, in line with our Work Management & Asset Management standards & processes
- Conducting effective change management on all improvement initiatives
- Working with end users to understand what they need from our AMM systems
- Working with the team to deliver a roadmap of a future systems landscape to support Fortescue
- Provide support for day-to-day system operation, trouble shoot any system issues and facilitate smooth transitions from project implementation to business-as-usual activities
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive SAP Materials Management (or similar) experience as an end user and a support specialist, alongside front end understanding of SAP (from best practice usage, enhancement, problem solving)
- Prior experience in an inventory, warehouse, or logistics role (Desirable)
- SAP Field Logistics experience (Desirable)
- Good problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
- Ability to engage stakeholders, both internal and external to Fortescue across various levels in the business.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills
- MS Office literacy (Essential)
