Aboriginal Development Coordinator
Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D 6R FIFO ex Perth
The Aboriginal Development Coordinator supports the attraction, retention and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees at Iron Bridge. This role delivers culturally informed case management and workforce development initiatives, supporting participants across VTEC and First Nations programs. The position partners closely with site leaders, communities and stakeholders to strengthen cultural safety, capability and sustainable employment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver culturally informed case management and long-term support for VTEC and First Nations program participants
- Design and deliver Aboriginal Development training, vocational programs and initiatives that achieve measurable outcomes
- Work collaboratively with site and operations teams to deliver effective programs across mine sites
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners, community representatives, leaders and internal stakeholders
- Identify and address cultural, workplace and wellbeing barriers impacting retention, resilience and reliability
- Maintain accurate records, reporting and documentation to support program delivery and continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in workforce development, community development or related fields
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, cultural safety and culturally appropriate engagement practices
- Proven ability to support personal wellbeing, professional development and behaviour change
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, manage conflict and facilitate difficult conversations respectfully
- Experience in program coordination, administration or training delivery, with confidence using Microsoft Office and Teams
- Current WA C-Class Driver’s Licence and ability to work autonomously in a FIFO environment
