Asset Maintenance Specialist- 12 Month Fixed Term

Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue Centre – 256 St Georges Tce, Perth

Roster: 5D2R with adhoc site travel as required

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.

Join Fortescue’s Operational Readiness team and help build a reliability framework for our expanding energy portfolio across the Pilbara. This includes transmission and distribution networks, substations, protection and control systems, and renewable energy assets.

You’ll develop the FMECA library for new Green Energy Grid assets, turning equipment data, OEM information and operational evidence into practical maintenance strategies, work instructions and checklists. Working closely with Energy Operations and teams across the business, you’ll help ensure reliability information is sound, approved and ready to be incorporated into SAP.

This senior engineering role calls for strong technical judgement, the ability to work through incomplete information, and the confidence to challenge assumptions and make recommendations that work in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop FMECA assessments for Green Energy Grid assets using reliability-centred maintenance and risk-based methods.
  • Consolidate and assess defect reports, OEM information, existing FMECA data and operational evidence.
  • Review and validate FMECA outputs, challenge assumptions and work with Energy Operations to secure approval.
  • Develop and refine maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive tasks, intervals and job-plan requirements.
  • Group work instructions and checklists to streamline maintenance tasks and reduce unnecessary duplication.
  • Prepare asset and strategy information for SAP entry, including maintenance plans and master data updates.
  • Review asset and material criticality, identify gaps in monitoring and maintenance, and undertake site visits or field verification as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Reliability, Asset Management or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Substantial experience in reliability engineering, asset management, maintenance strategy or asset risk in power, mining, resources or similar heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience applying FMEA/FMECA, RCM, root cause analysis, asset criticality and risk-prioritisation methods.
  • Strong capability analysing asset condition, failure and maintenance data and translating findings into practical engineering decisions.
  • Experience developing or improving maintenance strategies and progressing recommendations into operational work.
  • Practical experience using SAP or another CMMS/EAM system, including asset hierarchies, master data and maintenance plans.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to work autonomously, manage ambiguity and travel to Pilbara sites as required; mixed energy portfolio experience and knowledge of ISO 55000 or IEC 60300 are highly regarded.
