Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8 days on and 6 days off
Reporting to the Supervisor Automation Training, the Training Specialist is responsible for mapping, developing, and delivering high-quality Training Content to support the deployment of Fleet Management and Autonomous Haulage (AHS) products across operational sites. This includes the creation of task-based learning objectives and the facilitation of approval workflows aligned with Fortescue’s document control processes.
The role requires strong capability in both content development and the delivery of training courses to diverse work groups, ensuring complex technical information is communicated clearly and effectively. The Training Specialist will collaborate with project teams and site stakeholders to produce engaging training materials that meet the needs of operational and technical audiences.
Additionally, the Trainer acts as a key support function by providing guidance in documentation best practices, reviewing content created by others, and ensuring training materials align with Fortescue’s required standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear, accurate, and high-quality training documentation and supporting materials
- Translate technical and project information into structured training content aligned to learning outcomes
- Facilitate and lead training courses, workshops, and learning sessions for work groups
- Act as SME for Fortescue Autonomous Fleet Management systems
- Review and edit training content produced by others
- Ensure materials meet audience requirements and follow style guides
- Provide coaching and support on documentation best practices
- Uphold Fortescue values through professional behaviour and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Education, Technical Writing, or equivalent practical experience, with Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116/40122) desirable
- Proven experience producing high-quality training content for technical or operational audiences
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand training materials
- Experience delivering effective face-to-face and virtual training sessions, with strong facilitation and learner engagement skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse work groups and stakeholders
- Experience working with document control processes, approval workflows, and handling confidential information appropriately
- Proficient in MS Office, PDF tools, and digital learning platforms, with experience using Rise 360 highly desirable
- Ability to rapidly learn complex concepts, validate content accuracy with SMEs, and coach others in documentation best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport, collaborate with varied personalities, and provide effective coaching and guidance
- High attention to detail, strong time management, and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to challenge traditional approaches and adapt flexibly.
