Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster: 7D7N14R – FIFO ex Perth

 

Fortescue is seeking experienced Automotive Electricians with a strong background in surface drill maintenance to join our Solomon operations.

 

This role will focus on the maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair of our Epiroc PV271 and Epiroc D65 drill fleet, supporting safe and efficient production outcomes.

 

You will play a critical role in maintaining fleet reliability and availability through high-quality fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, fault finding and repairs on Epiroc PV271 and D65 drill rigs.
  • Execute planned maintenance, breakdown and inspection tasks on the drill fleet.
  • Interpret OEM electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Identify defects and create notifications for rectification, including required parts, tooling and resources.
  • Complete both field-based and workshop maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Fortescue standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to reliability improvements and defect elimination initiatives.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Australian recognised Automotive Electrical Trade qualification.
  • Current Australian C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience working on surface drill rigs (Epiroc PV271, Epiroc D65, or similar).
  • Strong capability in electrical diagnostics and fault finding on HME.
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic software and CAN systems is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to autonomous drilling systems and automation technologies is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
