Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 14D/14R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue is seeking a skilled and motivated Experienced Carpenter to join our Iron Bridge Operations team.
This role provides technical carpentry expertise across non-process infrastructure (NPI) assets while supporting the Maintenance Supervisor and Leading Hand. You will play an important role in maintaining site buildings and infrastructure to a high standard, mentoring team members and contributing to safe, efficient operations.
You will also assist with scoping and planning maintenance tasks within your area of expertise and help drive continuous improvement across the team.
Key Responsibilities

Complete building and carpentry maintenance activities safely and in compliance with site procedures, Australian Standards and WA Mines Safety requirements.

Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting a strong zero-harm culture.

Lead and support minor and major maintenance activities and breakdown responses.

Assist with scoping and planning works within your technical capability.

Maintain high-quality work management practices, including raising notifications and work orders for unplanned work.

Ensure Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) remain current and accurate.

Maintain workshops, tools and storage areas to a high standard.

Participate in field leadership activities and major hazard awareness initiatives.

Maintain regular communication with Supervisors and Leading Hands.
Qualifications and Experience

Trade-qualified carpenter (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent).

Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.

Strong technical knowledge of building and NPI infrastructure maintenance.

Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and HSES principles.

Ability to work autonomously and contribute positively within a team.

Sound work management and problem-solving capability.

C Class Manual Driver’s Licence (mandatory).

Relevant site certifications including Working at Heights and First Aid/CPR (required); additional high-risk licences advantageous.
