Category Management Senior Officer - Mobile Equipment

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday (with flexible work options available)
The Mobile Equipment category team at Fortescue are hiring for a Senior Category Officer, Mobile Equipment. You will play a key role in creating and supporting strategies for Fortescue’s Mobile Equipment supply. This will involve working closely with stakeholders to optimise commercial arrangements.
To be successful in the role, you are enthusiastic about business improvement as well as some exposure to category management experience. You will be proficient with data analytics and possess the ability to engage with and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Category management – provide support in building appropriate category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue business objectives and manage the end-to-end sourcing process for allocated projects, including data and pricing analysis.
- Contract management - developing and applying processes, procedures, systems, and knowledge to ensure optimum commercial benefit and minimal commercial risk.
- Supplier relationship management - deliver value through effective management of strategic supplier relationships.
- Strategic sourcing – In consultation with the Senior Manager, recommend appropriate sourcing approaches based on agreed category strategy.
- Negotiating – the ability to apply effective processes to an understanding of each party’s position to engage with suppliers to add value.
- Governance and risk management - ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
- Analysis & reporting - effective analysis and reporting at all stages of the procurement lifecycle. Actively identifies commercial risks affecting procurement activities in consultation with business stakeholders.
- Business partnering and commercial acumen - create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previously demonstrated experience in a fast-paced procurement function ideally in a mining environment.
- Capable of drafting contract award recommendations for a senior audience.
- Demonstrate an alignment to all of Fortescue’s values.
- Effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently manage priorities
- Demonstrate an ability to apply some aspects of category management principles.
- Show a level of resilience to challenging circumstances.
- Work effectively as a member of a results driven team.
- You have or you are working towards a bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Law or similar is desirable.
