Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
The primary purpose of the Category Specialist is to provide specialist procurement advice on Fortescue's Mobile Equipment and Decarb Execution category to assist stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage contract arrangements to effectively meet business objectives.
This role will also assist with category strategy development and implementation of strategic procurement activities supporting Fortescue’s mobile equipment categories.
Key Responsibilities

Manage contracts to ensure agreed performance standards are met and cost outcomes are achieved.

Deliver value through the effective management of key supplier relationships.

Develop and implement category strategies aligned to Fortescue’s business objectives and manage the end-to-end sourcing process.

Apply structured and effective negotiation strategies, with a clear understanding of all parties’ positions, to manage high-risk and/or high-value contracts.

Ensure business objectives are achieved through strong governance, compliance management, and the proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk.

Provide accurate analysis and reporting of relevant data across all stages of the procurement lifecycle, with a focus on mobile equipment.

Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities are fully aligned with business needs and opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Mobile equipment or resource sector experience, preferably in a contracts and procurement/supply chain team.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, commerce, law or similar.
- Effective writing skills and attention to detail (e.g. drafting concise recommendations, contract conditions, contract correspondence and variations).
- Effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently manage priorities.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Show a level of resilience to challenging and changing circumstances.
- Well-developed lateral thinking/problem-solving ability.
