Contracts Specialist
Our Opportunity
Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people
Roster: Monday to Friday
The primary purpose of this role is to support contract and procurement processes for the Capital Sustaining Projects Portfolio, in particular with respect to tendering of construction contract works and services, capital equipment and materials and post award contract administration and close-out
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for contract works, services, capital equipment and materials
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions including price, to support project schedule and budget
- Conduct sourcing activities in accordance with established Project Controls and Contracts and Procurement policies and procedures
- Develop well written, well-structured contract and procurement documentation that supports the project requirements
- Identify and maximise cost saving opportunities
- Provide reports, analyses and advice to support contracts and procurement decision-making
- Identify and evaluate key risks at contract formation and seek input from other functions as appropriate (e.g. technical, legal etc.)
- Maintain and update procurement and contract records and generate reports on procurement and contract activity to meet organisational compliance requirements and provide access to procurement and contract information
- Contract administration to support execution, including correspondence and contract notices,
- Detailed assessment of payment claims Variation and Extension of Time Claims
- Work as part of the team to deliver value through competitive sourcing and effective contract management
Qualifications and Experience
- +5 years’ experience in contract administration within mining or civil construction, SMP and EIC works
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business, law, or similar (desirable)
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple work packages with competing priorities
- Good attention to detail
- Professional and respectful manner with others
- Understands the importance of stakeholder relationships and can engage effectively with engineers, legal, quality management, project controls and logistics to co-ordinate and ensure contractual delivery parameters are met
- Self-driven and takes initiative to progress and deliver own and team/unit work
