Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

 

Based at our Hazelmere R&D facility, we are seeking an Intermediate Control Systems Engineer to join the Decarb Infrastructure Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative, high-impact projects that support Fortescue’s Real Zero target and accelerate the advancement of decarbonisation technologies.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to the design and development of PLC and HMI/SCADA control systems for Megawatt Fast Chargers
  • Develop and test PLC code and HMI/SCADA screens under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of control system documentation (functional descriptions, IO lists, test procedures)
  • Support integration of control systems with field instrumentation, electrical systems, and third-party equipment
  • Work collaboratively with wider engineering team, site teams, and vendors to support project delivery
  • Configure and implement industrial communication protocols during system design and site implementation
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including troubleshooting and defect resolution
  • Support commissioning activities and provide on-site technical assistance as required (including short-term site travel).

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Previous experience with PLC programming and SCADA/HMI systems (desirable)
  • Experience with Siemens PLC and TIA Portal (highly regarded)
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA/HMI (highly regarded)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment with evolving program requirements.
