Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.


Roster: 8 Days On / 6 Days Off – FIFO from Perth

 

Fortescue has an exciting opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer to join our Christmas Creek operations. Working alongside a team of Process Control Engineers, you will support and enhance control systems across two ore processing facilities and stockyard operations, driving safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Proactively identify and mitigate control system risks through safe and robust engineering solutions
  • Provide operational and breakdown support, including fault finding and troubleshooting of control systems
  • Design, develop, test, and modify control systems to optimise plant performance and reliability
  • Analyse plant equipment and processes to identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to deliver technical solutions
  • Lead or support control system improvement, optimisation, and defect elimination initiatives
  • Maintain control system assets including PLCs, SCADA, servers, networks, and field devices
  • Maintain documentation, standards, change management, and contribute to maintenance KPI outcomes

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Control Systems / Process Control Engineer in mining or fixed plant environments
  • Strong experience in control system development, commissioning, and operational support
  • Working knowledge of mineral processing equipment and operations
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA platforms including GE, Siemens, and Allen Bradley systems
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profibus/Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and EGD
  • Strong understanding of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages and data structures
  • Experience with instrumentation, ELV systems, and process control optimisation
