Decarb Delivery Lead - Operations Planning
Our Opportunity
Work Location - Perth Office - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster - 5 Days / 2 Off
Reporting to the Principal Mine Planning Engineer the Decarb Delivery Lead is responsible for delivering the operational planning standards and ROM operating philosophy required to enable Fortescue’s electrified mining fleet. The role consolidates internal best practice, OEM guidance, and industry research into practical, prescriptive mine planning guidelines, leads site pilots, and embeds standards across operations. The objective is to improve productivity, predictability of ore delivery, ROM efficiency, and decarbonisation outcomes, while ensuring planning processes support energy-constrained and electrified operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a prescriptive Operational Planning Guideline for electrified mining fleets (2-Year to Daily horizons).
- Translate OEM manuals, equipment constraints, and energy considerations into mine design, planning, and operating standards.
- Co-develop and ensure alignment of the Electrical ROM Operating Philosophy, aligning geology, planning, operations, and blending.
- Lead site engagement, pilots, and trials; extract local best practice and convert it into scalable standards.
- Own rollout, adoption, governance, and change management across sites.
- Partner with Electrical Mining, Mining Operational Excellence, and Digital/AI teams to innovate solutions.
- Ensure planning outputs drive predictable ore delivery, automated truck assignment, and system integration in an energy constrained world through curtailment decision making.
- Deliver training, workshops, and mentoring for planning teams.
- Define and report against KPIs for productivity, predictability, and ROM efficiency.
- Capture and embed learnings across all operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong mine engineering background with deep open-pit mine planning and operations experience.
- Demonstrated leadership across short-term to medium-term planning horizons.
- Experience delivering projects, pilots, and multi-site rollouts.
- Familiarity with electrified equipment, operational constraints, and mine control/automation systems (desirable).
- Proven stakeholder engagement, change leadership, and capability-building skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, practical guidance
