Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

 

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

 

12-month fixed term or secondment

 

 

This role is responsibile for coordinating Operational Readiness across the Design, Asset, Site, and Organisational domains to enable the safe, on‑time, in‑full introduction of new decarbonised technologies, assets, and operating models into Fortescue’s operations. 

 

 

The role ensures readiness requirements are clearly defined, sequenced, and integrated into project delivery, commissioning, and operational schedules. It acts as the critical bridge between engineering, construction, commissioning, site operations, corporate functions, and transition/change teams to achieve a controlled and risk‑managed start‑up with no adverse impact to safety, cost, production, or compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and maintain integrated operational readiness plans aligned with project timelines, commissioning programs, and fleet deployment strategies
  • Identify, manage, and track interdependencies across design, asset, site, organisational, and portfolio readiness domains
  • Coordinate site-level readiness activities across Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Supply Chain, Technology, Finance, and People functions
  • Align operational readiness requirements with commissioning plans, trials, first-use activities, and safe execution processes
  • Define and manage operational acceptance criteria, ensuring readiness evidence is verified and supporting controlled handover into operations
  • Translate fleet strategy and portfolio priorities into sequenced readiness requirements, providing insights for SteerCo, Board, and portfolio decision-making
  • Integrate readiness activities into project baselines, schedules, and PMO controls, maintaining risk, issue, and dependency registers
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment on capability, maintenance strategies, spares, safety controls, and operational philosophy updates
  • Provide structured readiness reporting to governance forums, clearly articulating risks, constraints, mitigation plans, and decision requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying readiness gaps early, capturing lessons learned, and strengthening future commissioning and transition activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Proven experience coordinating operational readiness or integration within large, complex project or operational environments
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, first use, asset handover, and operational acceptance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to align readiness activities with project schedules, commissioning milestones, and operational constraints
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project Delivery teams
  • Ability to simplify complex technical and operational dependencies into clear, actionable plans and communications
  • Strong risk awareness and the ability to manage impacts across safety, production, cost, and schedule
  • Experience supporting major operational transitions such as decarbonisation, electrification, fleet replacement, or large-scale technology deployments
  • Background in mining, resources, or other asset-intensive industries with complex field operations
  • Familiarity with engineering, commissioning, or maintenance readiness frameworks and structured handover processes
  • Experience operating within integrated PMO or project delivery models, including geographically dispersed site environments.
