Our Opportunity
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from passionate and capable Emergency Services Officers (ESO’s) to join our growing talent community and become part of a high-performing Emergency Response Team across our Pilbara mine sites.
This is more than just an ESO role — it’s an opportunity to work alongside a respected team that plays a critical role in protecting our people, operations and communities. As an ESO, you will respond to emergency incidents onsite while supporting the day-to-day operations of the emergency services and medical team. You’ll work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, continuing to build your capability across emergency response, rescue, firefighting, medical and incident management disciplines.
Work Location: FIFO opportunities available from Perth, Busselton, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing or Kununurra to our Pilbara WA mine operations.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to all onsite emergency incidents as part of the Emergency Response Team

Maintain emergency response equipment and complete compliance inspections and reporting

Conduct fitness for work testing in accordance with site and company Alcohol & Other Dugs (AOD) policies

Plan, coordinate and participate in emergency response drills and training exercises

Provide onsite medical support and maintain medical facilities in an operationally ready state

Deliver leadership, mentoring and training support to ERT members and site personnel

Maintain the required level of operational fitness to safely perform the role
Qualifications & Experience
-
Demonstrated operational experience within a mine site ESO team and/or State Emergency or Fire Service environment

Proven capability in emergency response coordination, incident control and emergency management practices

Previous volunteer experience with VFRS, Bush Fire Services or St John (desirable)

Cert III Emergency response and rescue OR Cert III Public Safety (Fire Fighting) (must include completion of Vertical & Confined Space Rescue components)

Cert IV, Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Health Care (desirable)

Completion of HLTPAT010 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing (or equivalent qualification)

Competent in core emergency response disciplines including Rope Rescue, Road Crash Rescue, Firefighting, Confined Space Rescue, Open Circuit BA and Hazmat response

Ability to meet the requirements for registration under Fortescue’s Poison Permit

Current HR Driver’s Licence (minimum HR-B)
