Location: Chichester Hub ( Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak)
Roster: 4/3 days only (FIFO ex Perth)
Reporting to: Lead Electrical Engineer
Role Purpose
FIFO Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer role supporting critical site infrastructure across power, water and fuel systems within Fortescue’s Chichester Hub (Pilbara, WA).This role requires prior site-based experience and is not suited to engineers looking to transition from purely design or office-based roles.
This is a hands-on, operational role focused on maintaining asset reliability, supporting hazardous area compliance and working closely with site-based teams. It is best suited to an engineer who enjoys practical problem-solving and being close to operations rather than a purely design-focused environment.
You will Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering support across a diverse portfolio of non-process infrastructure (NPI) assets including power distribution, water treatment, fuel systems and emerging energy assets.
You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure assets are safe, compliant and reliable, while contributing to maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives across site.
Key Responsibilities
- Support reliability and performance of electrical and instrumentation assets across site, including fault finding and root cause analysis
- Develop and contribute to maintenance strategies (RCA, FMEA/FMECA) in an operational environment
- Provide technical input into hazardous area (EEHA) equipment selection, compliance, and maintenance
- Support commissioning, energisation, and handover of electrical and control systems
- Engage with operations, maintenance, and contractors to ensure safe, compliant and effective execution of work
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) essential
- Experience in mining, oil & gas, or similar heavy industrial environments (e.g. LNG, chemical processing, refineries) essential
- Strong background across both electrical systems and instrumentation/controls
- Demonstrated experience with hazardous areas (EEHA) in a practical setting
- Proven experience working in site-based, operational environments (not solely design or project roles), with exposure to maintenance and reliability activities
