Fortescue is seeking a Data Analyst (Electrochemistry) to join our R&D Minerals team, responsible for supporting the development and optimisation of data pipelines and development of integration solutions that enable accurate, reliable and accessible data across the business. This role supports data-driven decision-making by maintaining clean well-structured datasets related to electrochemical data to strongly inform data trends.
Reporting to the R&D Manager and working closely with science and engineering teams, this is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, dynamic environment. Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into functional data solutions and technical specifications
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver high-quality datasets and insights
- Troubleshoot data issues and resolve pipeline failures to ensure reliable data availability
- Develop, maintain and optimise data pipelines across ingestion, transformation, validation and delivery stages
- Build and support data transformation pipelines in a Snowflake data warehouse
- Build and support data visualizations across Power BI, SEEQ Analytics, Stream lit
- Collaborate daily with science, engineering to deliver valuable inputs/outputs and facilitate critical evaluations/assessments through data visualisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in data analytics, data engineering, business analysis or similar roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field with research experience in Electrochemistry, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related discipline highly desirable
- High attention to detail with strong communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Exposure to data modelling, database design and relational database principles
- Experience with Snowflake, SEEQ essential
- Experience with Stream lit and Power BI preferred
- Experience with JIRA and agile ways of working preferred
- Additional benefit if having previous experience working with LIMS in chemical handling environments.
