We are seeking an experienced people leader with a strong background in the power generation industry. The Energy Operations Eastern Region Superintendent is responsible for delivering safe, reliable power through strong leadership of maintenance execution and site-based operational activities. This is a high-profile role requiring excellent leadership, team and work management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

The Eastern Region energy portfolio includes 11kV–33kV distribution networks at the Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mine sites, thermal power stations, and emergency diesel power stations for site villages. New assets include a 220kV transmission network connecting Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek to the Fortescue network, as well as 190MW solar farm, 644MWh battery energy storage systems, and 130MW wind generation.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide overall leadership, guidance and work direction for the supervisors and frontline teams
  • Responsible for the safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance and operation of the Eastern Region portfolio within Energy Operations battery limits.
  • Ensure budgets are managed within limits and in order of established priority and in compliance with Company Financial Policy.
  • Commitment to developing people and leading inclusive, respectful teams
  • Strong operational knowledge of power generation industry.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Experience in a Superintendent role or seconded position of similar disciplines, 5 + years as a supervisor or coordinator role or similar leadership position
  • Minimum qualification of Electrical trade certificate
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • High level & demonstratable skills and ability to manage department budgets
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working across multiple workstreams
  • Flexible, adaptable and works well under pressure in a fast-paced demanding environment.
  • Strong understanding of WHS standards and requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to Fortescue’s values and achieving an incident and injury free environment, with sound experience working with safety management systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on practical, value-driven outcomes
