Work Location:  Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

 

Roster:  8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth

 

We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Environmental Advisor to support environmental compliance and sustainable operations on site. This role combines field-based monitoring, regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement to help protect and enhance the environments in which we operate.

 

Working closely with operational teams, you will provide practical environmental guidance, analyse monitoring data, support reporting obligations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys being hands-on in the field while also influencing positive environmental outcomes across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake field-based environmental monitoring, including surface water, groundwater, dust and soil sampling.

  • Review and interpret monitoring data to identify trends and support compliance with regulatory requirements and trigger levels.

  • Conduct internal environmental inspections, audits and verifications in partnership with site teams.

  • Support incident investigations and contribute to identifying practical, effective corrective actions.

  • Prepare and contribute to annual statutory and compliance reporting.

  • Assist with land disturbance tracking and environmental impact assessments.

  • Deliver clear, engaging environmental training and communication sessions to site personnel.

  • Provide practical, solutions-focused guidance on environmental matters to operational teams.

  • Encourage innovation through the use of technology (e.g. drones, telemetry and monitoring systems).

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental systems, processes and practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience within the resources or related sector.

  • Sound understanding of state and federal environmental legislation and its application in mining or heavy industry.

  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.

  • Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and genuine commitment to environmental sustainability.
