Fixed Plant Electrician - Leading Hand
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth
Cloudbreak is seeking a Leading Hand Fixed Plant Electrician to join our Process Plant team in a permanent full-time role. You will lead and support the electrical team while ensuring safe, effective and timely maintenance of fixed plant equipment and ancillaries to optimise plant performance and operational capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Stepping up and fulfilling the Electrical Supervisor role when required
- Coaching and mentoring of the electrical team members
- Scoping of upcoming work
- Distribution of daily work orders to the electrical team
- Performing repairs, installations and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation, all electronic and instrumentation equipment/systems
- Performing operational checks, monitoring performance and related maintenance to identify and diagnose instrumentation electronic and electrical performance problems
- Performing technical evaluations, fault finding and diagnosing problems and taking timeous corrective action
- Decommissioning and disposal of equipment as appropriate
- Performing on-the-job coaching as required
- Monitoring trends to make recommendations for inventory control
- Statutory testing and inspections
- Carrying out tasks within time, budget and standard
- Performing detail design, device programming, configuration and calibration on equipment
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical trade qualification
- Current WA 'A' class electrical workers licence
- High voltage switching certificate
- Certificate IV in instrumentation (desired)
- Experience as an electrical tradesperson or Electrical / Instrumentation Technician in a continuous operating plant environment
- Exposure to leadship responsibilities or appetite to be a leader
- Proven experience in PLC systems and control communication systems
- Profibus installation and maintenance certification desirable
- Proven experience in the maintenance and trouble shooting of Variable Speed Drives
- Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems
- Experience in computer based maintenance systems - SAP/Microsoft Office suit
