Country/Region:  AU
State:  WA

Job ID:  15056

Our Opportunity

Work location: Perth, WA

Roster: 5:2 Roster (Monday to Friday)

The Power Generation and Transmission Engineering team at Fortescue is looking for a passionate Graduate Engineer to join us full-time in 2026 and help power one of the most ambitious decarbonisation journeys in the world.

This is not a desk-only graduate role. You’ll be hands-on from day one, working on large-scale solar farms, substations, transmission infrastructure, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that are actively transforming how the mining industry operates - from fossil fuels to 100% green energy.

You’ll have the rare opportunity to contribute to real, high-impact projects, complete detailed engineering design, and then see your work come to life on site. Designing, building, commissioning, and standing back knowing you helped make it happen. For a graduate engineer, this truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the future.

At Fortescue, you won’t just be learning, you’ll be making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the detailed design and delivery of renewable energy infrastructure, including solar farms, substations, transmission lines, and BESS projects.
  • Gain end-to-end exposure across the full project lifecycle: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, design reports, and technical documentation in line with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects that are safe, efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Proactively identify design, safety and constructability risks, contributing to Fortescue’s zero-harm culture.
  • Participate in site activities, including inspections, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting, seeing your designs built in the real world.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and stay at the forefront of renewable energy technologies and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, completed within the last two years.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, curious and proactive mindset, with a genuine passion for learning and renewable energy.
