Heritage Field Officer
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Across all Fortescue Pilbara Operations
Roster: 14D/14R - FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Heritage Field Supervisor, the Heritage Field Officer is responsible for the end-to-end coordination and delivery of heritage field activities across Fortescue’s project and operational areas.
Working closely with key Native Title Groups and external consultants, this role ensures heritage obligations are met safely, respectfully, and in accordance with legislative requirements and business commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of remote heritage surveys, inspections, and consultations in collaboration with Traditional Custodians and external consultants.
- Ensure all heritage field activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures, permits, and legislative requirements.
- Work effectively within active mining operations and remote environments, both independently and as part of a team.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen respectful and collaborative relationships with Native Title Partners.
- Provide daily written and verbal updates to the Cultural Heritage team
- Support the coordination and reporting of heritage-related matters
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and teamwork at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in heritage, land access, or a similar field-based role.
- First Aid qualification (Senior First Aid or equivalent).
- Demonstrated understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act and heritage compliance requirements.
- Proven off-road and long-distance driving experience in remote environments.
- 4WD qualification (RIIVEH305A).
- Technologically competent, with the ability to use field-based systems and reporting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with a wide range of stakeholders.
