Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

Reporting Line: Head of Land and Access

 

A key team member to support the delivery of the land strategy for the APAC and Global Land Portfolios.

 

Working closely with the Land and Access Team to support town planning assessment, land access negotiations, land due diligence and management of land agreements. Includes management of key documents, project coordination tools, and databases.

 

This role requires interfacing with multiple functions and departments and an exceptional ability to manage diverse workloads and priorities to deliver quality and timely results.

Key Responsibilities

 

•    Work closely with Land Advisors/Land Specialists in supporting execution of APAC and Global Land strategic direction via a combination of due diligence, acquisitions, contract rights, regulatory permits, licences and leases.
•    Support and carry out due diligence on properties (including title searches and planning checks) and support the preparation of findings reports.
•    Support land access through interpretation of planning schemes and related planning documents to determine compatibility of land to support specified land uses. 
•    Provide support for the execution of landholder exclusive collaboration contracts, NDA’s and similar agreements, including the required tasks to ensure timely completion. 
•    Coordinate the land access component of Land Use Certificates (LUCs) on InfoScope to ensure safe and valid access to properties under Fortescue agreement or ownership (non-Mining access).
•    Work closely with Legal, Commercial, Native Title, Project Approvals, Environment, Heritage and project controls teams, to ensure coordination and alignment. 
•    Develop and maintain project coordination tools including logs of stakeholder engagement and other project management and coordination tools. 
•    Maintain optimal tools to capture and present information on land rights and interests including capturing land access agreements in the relevant database (PX4) and ensuring validity of agreements to meet long term land access requirements.  This includes tracking key dates, milestones, renewals and compliance obligations. 
•    Support the procurement process for the Lands, including vendor engagement and preparation of invoices and purchase order requisitions.
•    Continually look for and implement improvements in line with the Fortescue values 

Note: due to the global nature of the Fortescue business and essential interactions with colleagues and consultants operating in different time zones, occasional on-line meetings are required outside of standard business hours

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

•    Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or other land access related degree qualification (highly regarded).  
•    Knowledge of WA land tenure and planning legislation (Essential) 
•    Ability to read and interpret zoning maps and planning schemes (Essential)
•    Administrative support capabilities (Essential)
•    Basic GIS proficiency with spatial data analysis and mapping proficiency
•    Understanding land use compatibility and development assessment process 
•    Familiarity with strategic planning documents and masterplans 
•    High capability in using databases and systems to manage information 
•    Strong eye for attention to detail and accuracy 
•    Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
•    Belief in the value of team and collaboration 
•    High levels of self-motivation with demonstrated ability in resilience when managing diverse workloads and priorities and deliver quality and timely results
