Work Location: Chichester Operations – Cloudbreak. Fortescue’s Cloudbreak Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 8D6X FIFO Perth

The Lead Project Execution reports to the Superintendent Maintenance Projects and is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Project Area Leads during the execution phase of sustaining capital projects.

The role will provide leadership across project execution, commissioning, asset handover and operational readiness, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and in line with the Fortescue project framework.

The sustaining capital portfolio includes critical asset replacements, asset modifications and upgrades, obsolete equipment replacement, structural remediation and electrical equipment upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of experienced Project Area Leads.
• Coordinate resources in line with upcoming project execution requirements.
• Provide focused leadership on risk management and promote a positive safety culture.
• Engage with maintenance, operations, engineering, shutdown and planning teams.
• Review and lead project methodology, schedule and readiness discussions.
• Coordinate communication and interfaces across departments.
• Monitor contractor performance against safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Provide direction to cross-functional teams to overcome obstacles and maintain project progress.
• Manage projects through execution, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.
• Maintain project risk and issues registers and escalate schedule or performance risks.
• Ensure multilevel walkdowns are completed for critical path projects.
• Lead vendor feedback and lessons-learned activities.
• Support succession planning, capability development and workforce planning.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in a brownfields environment.
• Experience managing contractors in the mining or heavy industry sectors.
• Experience across campaign maintenance, shutdowns and small capital projects.
• Strong understanding of contractor management, safety, quality and risk controls.
• Knowledge of Western Australian mine safety legislation and relevant Australian Standards.
• Ability to interpret and challenge project methodologies, schedules and engineering designs.
• Electrical or mechanical trade qualification, or an appropriate tertiary qualification.
• Current C or CA class driver’s licence.
• Schedule 26 qualification under the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA).
