Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

 

 


Roster: 8 days on and 6 days off ex Perth, Busselton, Karratha or Broome

 

 

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for the Christmas Creek Green Iron Plant. You will be responsible for the Maintenance and smooth operation of all mechanical equipment within the Green Iron Plant production facility as well as the Hydrogen Production facility.

 

 

Your primary duties will involve maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and servicing of equipment as well as meeting all lubrication requirements.

 

 

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations, while also contributing to the efficient operation of our Hydrogen and Green Iron Systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Install, maintain, and repair Mechanical systems and equipment in industrial settings
  • Conduct inspections and tests to ensure the integrity and safety of mechanical installations
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to plan and execute fitting maintenance
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to coordinate fitting activities
  • Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards to minimize risks and ensure compliance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, appliances, and equipment
  • Provide guidance and support to learning maintainers as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, tests, and repairs
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to Mechanical Fitting
  • If qualified to do so, elements of gas fitting may be required.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Mechanical Fitter trade qualifications or Mechanical Engineering qualification with at least 5 year’s experience in Processing Facilities, Gas Production, Smelting or industrial settings
  • Formal Hydraulics qualifications with practical experience to support
  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in industrial settings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and address equipment issues
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations applicable to industrial facilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed
  • Desirable - Certification as an Industrial Gas Fitter, with qualifications in Type B appliances, Class I(a) I(b), and Class P
  • Strong knowledge and demonstration of Practical skills aligned to gas fitting techniques, tools, and materials.
