Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator
Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D6R – FIFO ex Perth or Busselton (14D14R six-month trial may be considered for the right applicant).
Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent this role is pivotal in providing specialised mechanical technical support for both wet and dry processing facilities, focusing on maintaining the integrity and reliability of fixed plant equipment. The primary objective is to proactively address plant reliability issues, minimising downtime and preventing breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a cohesive culture between processing plants across Solomon.
- Constantly review and monitor maintenance strategies with a continuous cost and reliability focus.
- Attending breakdown activities providing technical guidance and monitor maintenance processes to ensure they align with work instructions, best practices and industry standards.
- Identify high priority works through area inspections, work order and notification audits and work with planners to schedule these as priority.
- Update work instructions for routine tasks and ensure they are assigned to the relevant maintenance items.
- Review the 4-week draft plan to ensure adequate preparation for maintenance teams and availability of materials.
- Provide updates routinely to the Mechanical Superintendents to capture progress and provide opportunity for support.
- Complete a weekly one-note handover log of tasks completed and stored in Teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in providing leadership and direction to multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in maintaining pumps, crushing and screening assets is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication skills, and have the demonstrated ability to liaise and interact with individuals and groups of varying levels of authority.
- Strong computer literacy with all MS Office suite of programs, and working knowledge of the SAP Maintenance Management System.
- Experience with contract and contractor management.
- Mechanical Fitter, Boilermaker Trade qualification or Engineering degree.
