Our Opportunity

Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

 

Roster: 7D 7N 14R FIFO ex Perth 

 

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator to support fixed plant operations at Iron Bridge. Reporting to the Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance, this role is responsible for driving safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance outcomes across the OPF. You will play a key role in coordinating maintenance activities, supporting shutdowns, managing vendors, and improving asset performance through a strong reliability and continuous improvement mindset. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support mechanical maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and availability
  • Assist with weekly planning and shutdown scheduling to ensure all asset risks are captured and addressed
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all procedures and hazard management processes
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and QA/QC oversight to maintenance teams and contractors
  • Manage OEM/vendor performance, including safety, scope execution, and cost control
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including defect elimination, RCA (5 Why), and maintenance strategy optimisation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter / Fabrication) or Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fixed plant or mineral processing maintenance
  • Strong work management and shutdown experience within heavy industry
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in maintenance environments
  • Sound knowledge of SAP, maintenance planning systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret drawings, systems, and equipment data
